journey to the north pole movie pitch
my pitch for the next big christmas special that will play on tv every year before i forget it: journey to the north pole.
its a journey to the center of the earth style scifi setting where, unbenounced to man, there is a secret pocket utopia of otherworldly wildlife that exists at the north pole. every year as it gets closer to christmas, this wildlife sheds its usual colorings and plumage in exchange for more festive looks. birds change from white to green and read. foxes and rabbits grow little christmas sweater patterns on their torsos and arms. trees grow pointier and develop small amounts of bioluminescence. rocks grow little santa hats or some shit.
its truely a magical tropical christmas marvel of nature. no one knows why the wildlife responds this way, but scientist think it has something to do with the outpouring of holiday cheer that is cast out into the atmosphere and gets siphoned here through the joyzone layer. but earths most unique ecosystem is under threat. christmasification seems to be happening later and later each year, and now its almost christmas day and there is nary a snow-shoe footed booby in sight (its a kind of bird). scientists are puzzled, christmas celebration is at an all time high but holiday cheer levels in the atmosphere still seem to be dropping.
now if im going to pitch this to hallmark then there has to be a core romance in the film, which brings us to our main characters. one is the point of view character, a news reporter from the big city who loves christmas and is entranced by the wonder of this secret christmas paradise. they are heartbroken that the north pole biome may disappear forever, but understand little of the science or how to stop this terrible future.
the other main character is a scientist who has spent years studying and writing papers about the north pole biome but doesnt see the magic of this christmas land and doesnt believe in holiday cheer as being anything but a simple force of nature that has nothing to do with good will towards man.
together they must learn to put aside their differences to save this natural wonder for future generations, and maybe discover that they have more in common with each other than they thought along the way.
perhaps there could be a sideplot where the scientist tries to make a machine that could fabricate the frequency of holiday cheer only to have their well researched plan fail on chritsmas eve. the news reporter may try to drum up christmas cheer on their own by having some kind of gift give-away, but only manages to entice consumerism and division, not true holiday cheer.
BUT AT THE END…. THEY FIGURE IT OUT. THEY BROADCAST ALL OVER THE GLOBE, GETTING EVERYONE FROM EVERYWHERE TO PUT ASIDE THEIR DIFFERENCES AND BELIEVE IN CHRISTMAS TO SAVE THE ENVIRONMENT.
EVERYONE DISCOVERS THE TRUE MEANING OF CHRISTMAS AT ONCE AS THEY SING CAROLS TOGETHER ALL ACROSS THE GLOBE. ITS THE GREATEST OUTPOURING OF CHRISTMAS CHEER AT ONCE IN OVER 100 YEARS. THE NORTH POLE BIOME BURSTS INTO LIGHT AS ALL FORMS OF LIFE TRANSFORMS INTO THE MOST FESTIVELY TACKY FORMS OF THEMSELVES ANYONE HAS EVER SEEN.
NORTHERN LIGHTS LIGHT UP THE NIGHT SKY, AND IN THE DISTANCE, WE CAN SEE THE SILHOUETTE OF A SLEIGH BEING PULLED BY 9 OF THE MOST MAJESTIC CHRISTMAS BEASTS CGI CAN PRODUCE. AT THE REIGNS IS AN OLD MAN, A SIDE CHARACTER SHOPKEEPER WHO UNTIL THIS POINT HAS ONLY BEEN HINTED AT AS BEING SANTA BUT THERE HE IS.
HIS APPEARANCE IS AS OTHERWORLDLY AS THE BEAST WHO PULL HIS SLEIGH, IMPLYING THAT THE HOLIDAY CHEER HAS EFFECTED HIM AS WELL. HE WINKS AT THE CAMERA. the main characters kiss. it is implied that the news reporter will stay with the scientist in the north pole.

PALEO HIGHSCHOOL DRAMA i thought was fun
im not done with the book yet, but theres this one sequence in this book im reading called Heart of the Bison: Neandertals Book One by Glen Stott that just charmed the socks right off me and i really want to talk about it.
spoilers, but like… this book wasnt in the library system and is self published so probably not in any stores. even if you hate spoilers consider this the only type of advertising you will likely ever get for this book & i hope some more people do pick it up just for this.
ok so, the main boy is homo sapien/modern human/whatever were called now during the time neanderthals were still around. hes the son of his tribes chief and when hes like tween-age equivalent he gets a crush on a girl from another group. they only get to see each other every 2 years when theres a big rendezvous of all the tribes. they start talking future plans together.
him: “i want to be a strong hunter when i grow up”
her: “i want to get married to a hunter and have lots of babies” blah blah blah
like they were made in heaven! then hes like “next year ill be old enough to take the hunters test. by the next rendezvous i will pass the test and then we’ll be old enough to marry. will you wait for me until then?”
and shes like i make no promises. 2 years is a long time. if i still feel the same about you then as i do now ill marry you.
and hes like “ill prove it to you! next time you see me ill be a hunter!!!”
and then this is were the standardized testing comes in. each hunter/potential hunter has a little symbol that represents them that they carve into all of their arrows/throwing spears. the hunting test is the established hunters taking all the teen boys out on a hunt and acting as referees. when an animal is killed, they look at whose arrows hit where and assign points for things like, where they hit the animal, was it a killing blow, bravery, and stuff like that. if a boy gets at least 30 points on the test he can retake the test next year, if he gets 45 or over he can go through the hunter ceremony and become a hunter. if he gets less than 30 he fails and has to choose some other career path.
our main boy takes the test and nearly gets run over by a bison, but passes with flying colors and is made a hunter on his first time taking the test, which hardly ever happens and is a big deal. still, the experience leaves him with some bison based ptsd.
so the next rendezvous happens and he goes looking for his crush. “look look!” he says “im a first hunter now! so much has happened! we have to talk!!”
and shes like not now, come find me after dinner.
so he goes and eats dinner with his parents and then goes to find her again. when he gets there, she starts being weirdly sour with him. first she tells him hes late even though he got there as fast as he could. then he tells her about becoming a hunter, but all she wants to hear about is the secret hunter ceremony. he tells her he cant tell her about that because its not his secret to tell.
and to that she says “well, if were getting married then we have to tell each other everything. i wont marry someone who keeps things from me.”
so hes like i cant tell you about the ceremonies but i can tell you my secret, to prove i wont keep things from you. during the hunting test i was nearly run over by a bison and now im terrified of them and it kind of sucks because im supposed to be this great hunter now but i dont know if i can face one again. ive never told that to anyone before.”
and shes like “cool now tell me about the ceremony”
and it goes on like that for a bit. she threatens to tell everyone hes afraid of bison. they both go home in a huff. the next day our main boy decides to try to work things out with her again and goes to her house.
her older brother– a character who so far only ever shows up to be a mother fucking g– pops out of the bushes and is like “woahhh there partner! shes engaged to someone else now! skedaddle!”
and sure enough, there she is sitting inside with another teen boy, but hes a few years older than them, but not a hunter yet.
main boy: whats the meaning of this?? you said we’d be married!
her: i can explain!!!
boyfriend: beat it kid. what she wants is a real man.
main boy: real man?! im a first hunter!
boyfriend: oh, are you?
and then the boyfriend pulls a fucking biff from back to the future move, and makes his hands look like horns and acts like a bison.
main boy: you told him?? how could you!
her: main boy, wait!
but its too late. main boy runs off by himself. hes convinced that the shitty boyfriend will tell everyone hes afraid of bison and then everyone will think he was only made first hunter because his dad is the chief. he decides to go and hunt a bison all by himself to either prove himself or die trying, and if he does die, then theyll be sorry!
meanwhile, his crush breaks up with her boyfriend because she realizes that hes a dick. the next day she goes looking for main boy but cant find him. eventually she confesses to his mom that she had just been trying to pick a fight with main boy so hed be angry with her and she wouldnt have to break up with him herself.
i just loved this whole sequence. the whole book isnt highschool drama but i hadnt realized how much i wanted shitty paleo teen drama until i read this. 🤣 🤣🤣

right now i have 11 body placements.
“RH” = right side of head (the signers right)
“LH” = left side of head
“RE” = right eye
“LE” = left eye
same thing for “RN”/”LN” for nose and “RM”/”LM” for mouth.
then we have plain “F” for in front of the torso, as well as “RF” and “LF” for right and left sides of the torso.
“–” indicates change from one hand shape and placement to another.
the 👋 emoji indicates movement. 👋👋 indicates a repeat. 👋👋 👋 means both.
so some example words could be:
LH✋–LE👊
or
RF☝–F🧤👋. in this one the 2nd sign is moving but the 1st is not.
or
F✋–F🤚 👋👋. this one means the change between the two signs is just repeated a few times rather than the signer should move their hand around.
and of course not all words need to have a sign change. a simple “F👌” could be a full word too.

mini genome project
hey yall. a long time ago i made a post about how i do punnett squares for fun and stuff. just wanted to update you all because for the first time ive made a system where a bunch of different traits effect each other and i dont got anybody to tell.
i call it.... the mini genome project and its a pretend system of how hair color, eye color, skin color, and freckling all could be determined by a few genes. i also have a thing for hair curliness but its not influenced by the others. ill still include it though.
im realizing as i upload these that it would take a very long time for me to explain all of these so i will just give a brief description of each under its image.
some basics: the main system has 13 genes called O, H, K, S, L, Y, I, M, T, G, P, R, and F.
each gene has two forms, represented by the lower case form of each letter. some would call these dominant and recessive forms of each, but a lot of these are going to actually be codominant for i wont get into it too much. lets just call the uppercase dominant alleles and the lower case recessive alleles, and when someone has one of each thats heterozygous.
each person has two copies of each of these genes. they can have KK, Kk, or kk, and SS, Ss, or ss ....etc etc etc
skin color is determined by the genes O, K, S, L, as well as R but R is a wild card.
the more dominant alleles of O, K, S, and L someone has, with a maximum of 8 and a minimum of 0 = how dark theyre skin is.
UNLESS they are RR. this based off the real gene MCR1. having RR = lighter skin AND red hair, plus maybe freckles in real life, but i wanted to make sure it was possible to have red hair without freckles in this so thats its own gene. i still have it effecting skin tone though.
hair color is also divided by MCR1. the genes H, S, L, Y, I, and T effect general shade just like with skin color while R effects redness.
the RR column is the red column, though red can come in many shades. after a certain point the hair gets so dark i assume it becomes indistinguishable from the non-red shades.
the Rr column shades all have a tiny bit of red to them while the rr shades have none at all. think the description of bella swan in twilight-- brown hair that has tiny bit of red but you can only see it in the sunshine vs. none at all. or perhaps what someone might call 'ash blond' vs 'golden blond.'
this one is a little less straight forward. to read this chart you must first know that O and H are linked and act as a switch between dark and light eyes. t
his means that i assume that these two genes are so close to each other on the chromosome that they are pretty much always inherited together.
so, if two parents had the genotype OoHh, 1/4 of their kids would be OOHH, 1/2 would be OoHh, and the last 1/4 would be oohh. none would be ooHH or Oohh etc even though it would be technically possible.
i list which genotypes are on which side of the dark/light half at the top of the chart. you will note that it is not impossible for someone to have light eyes on the dark half of the chart, but it is impossible to have dark eyes on the light side.
the genes M and T effect regular shade/brown-ness while G and P effect 'green-ness' and yellow-ness. g needs to be recessive to code for green-ness while P needs to be dominant.
freckling is determined by only the F gene but in this i assume its linked to MCR1 the same way O and H are so that they are a little more tightly entwined than they would otherwise be.
this one hasnt really changed. i assume that there are 11 unrelated genes that have alleles that can either code for more curly hair or more straight hair. the more curly alleles someone has = the curlier the hair, with a max of 22 and min of 0. the hair typing system i used for this can be read about here https://www.curlcentric.com/hair-typing-system/
